New Lenox, IL (December 4, 2017) — On Friday, December 1, 2017, the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Jingle & Mingle Holiday Party at Gatto’s Italian Restaurant and Bar. Over 130 chamber and community members gathered to celebrate the holiday season. As a way to give back to the community, attendees were asked to bring a donation for the “Jingle All the Way Toy Drive” to benefit children throughout New Lenox. Approximately 135+ toys were collected at the event. This is a record high for the Chamber’s annual collection!
All of the donated toys are donated to the New Lenox Township Food Pantry. The toys are then passed out to families in need. Parents are provided the opportunity to select gifts suitable for their children from the items donated.
“Our Chamber Members truly embody the giving spirit that is so strong in New Lenox. The Holiday Party Committee and I were blown away by the generosity and thoughtfulness of the toys donated this year. We hope they bring joy and smiles to the children of New Lenox on Christmas morning!” shared Chamber CEO, Emily Johnson.
“The Township Food Pantry is so blessed to receive the continued support of the New Lenox Chamber and its membership. The toys collected really make a difference for our area families in need. We have new partnerships this year with New Lenox School District 122 and Lincolnway Christian Church. These partnerships allow us to expand our reach beyond families registered with the food pantry,” stated Kathie Johnson, Director, Family Services Department, New Lenox Township.
The New Lenox Township Food Pantry serves approximately 80-100 families per week. Donations of nonperishable food items are continuously needed. If you are interested in donating to the Food Pantry, please contact Kathie Johnson at 815.717.6221 or visit them online at www.newlenox.org.
